"Marketing Director"

We worked with Sam and Will a few years back, when we were rolling out an exclusive retail plan throughout the UK. The brief was to build a POS using discarded materials, that would deliver a rugged presentation, that could hold our product range and present it to prospective customers. The boys walked away and a few weeks later delivered a beautiful design, one that would carry our brand within retail for two years.

More than anything else, they were wicked to work with, they get small and they can also play big. We'll be ringing them up again in the not so distant future - big hugs boys!

"Part of a winning team"

Boex were part of a team that entered the Cornwall Big Design Challenge.

The challenge was to overcome issues in Cornwall using design. We came up with an idea called Shopbylayby and Boex, along with the rest of the team, added substance to the scheme.

Thanks to the visualisation and effective design of Boex, our team won the first prize of £10,000.

Open communication channels, practical advice and a willingness to apply design to create an excellent working environment made Boex an influential, and essential, part of our success.

"Managing Director"

We have been working with Boex for over 7 years. Initially we used Boex to design and fit out our new offices. This project was a significant investment for us and although our budget was limited by other companies standards, the quality of the design and fabrication outcomes provided by Boex were brilliant. They listened to our ambitions for how we wanted the new space to help our staff feel more comfortable as well as represent our sense of pride of being an international business functioning from deepest darkest Cornwall! They managed to be extremely creative with our budget and making it go as far as possible in transforming the whole space. The long term effect of their work for us has achieved all that we intended, it was pivotal in us feeling confident enough of our workspace to invite our Iraqi Ministry of Health clients to travel to Cornwall to meet with us as opposed to us travelling to London.
Boex have gone on to work extensively within our shared marketplace of healthcare and through our positive experience with them and our knowledge of other projects they have completed, we are happy to recommend them without reservation to our clients and colleagues.

"Design Team Lead for new Children's Unit at Salisbury District Hospital"

Patient, innovative and professional are three words that describe Boex's approach. Our steering group (which includes the Estates team, Therapy & healthcare staff, artists and parent/patient reps) had very variable experience of commissioning. Boex were very good at working with our team that initially seemed defensive and out of their depth. By the end of the process the steering group members were keen to point out how diferently they felt about working with Boex - a complete U-turn from unsure to so positive, so impressed.
Sam, Will and the Boex team made a point of getting to know the site, the group and best of all co-designing with groups of children & teenagers (our service users).
The new Teen waiting room was shown to the 6 teenagers who worked on the day long design workshop and their faces lit up. The final room is such a faithful representation of the ideas that Boex drew up with the teenagers during the workshop - it really showed that every person who chooses to get involved in the design of public buildings really can make a meaningful contribution when coupled with an experienced team such as Boex.
Our Day assessment unit was a very difficult problem to solve with huge ranges of ages, uses and criteria to meet. Boex worked hard to take on the feedback from the steering group and worked together with us to eliminate the hurdles.
The result is really, really good. You get that great feeling sense of "Wow!" when you walk through the door into the space. And that is such a contrast to the previous area that the service used to be located in. Boex really brought our Treetops theme alive in this waiting room.
I also have to say that the contractor who made the custom installations for Boex - Renatas - were a joy to work with. Clear communication, always on time, perfectionist approach to the finish of the furniture and an excellent ambassador for Boex.
we'd happily recommend anyone looking to involve service users, staff or public in the design of a building or environment to work with Boex. It's been very worthwhile for us - our steering group are truly converted!
